Ginka, who create unique flavoured gins and vodkas, have started trading at the Galleries following a competition ran by Revo aimed at supporting local start-ups.

HATCH which aimed to unearth the next generation of retail talent offered free space and marketing support to stand out retail concepts for up to 3 months.

The Galleries was selected as one of just six participating shopping outlets nationwide to host the competition which included all utilities, service charges and business rates for three months as part of the prize.

Ginka were successfully chosen and will also be granted a year’s free membership with the British Independent Retail Association (bira), giving access to expert marketing and legal advice, a unique retail insurance scheme, card processing and preferential banking rates, all designed to help them take their businesses to the next level.

HATCH was launched by retail property trade body Revo in collaboration with many key players within the retail sector to breathe new life into shopping centres around the UK and Ireland.

David McNee, centre manager of the Galleries, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ginka to the Centre. We wish them every success and they are already attracting a great deal of interested. The Hatch initiative encourages innovation, giving aspiring retailers a platform to showcase new ideas while reaching new customers. We are proud to champion fresh thinking in the hope this will uncover a hidden gem and provide a boost to the local economy.”
